Wednesday links for 28/11/07
by adminThe more I get into blogging the less time I have for anything else… It’s got to the point where I am going to have to get organize my blogging. So I had a look around to see what others have to say.
Over at Super Blogging Tips has a very good article about the power of planning. That is going to be the basis of my getting my act together. I prefer a squared note paper purely because it is easier to make neater flow charts and diagrams.
Rod at Blogging notes talks about his work flow. He recommends blog first, then check your comments and then check out the competition and do research for future posts. I like this idea of doing the research last as it gives time to sleep on it before posting.
Of course before actually posting there are things to be done. Carla at WordPlay has broken those actions down into a posting checklist that is easily followed.
But how often should you post? As a new blogger, I saw every where I looked that you should post every day. Eeek. Really? Can’t I have a life? I tried this and failed miserably and ended up doing about 3 posts a week, even though I tried writing a post a day. Erik at Marketing Profs Daily Fix gave some quite good reasons why blog frequency does not matter anymore, and his reasoning, I think, is still valid. I am now trying a post every other day, but always post on a Wednesday so I post four times a week.
The other problem is what to post. My subject matter upto now has been fairly random. In other words, going nowhere. Maki at DoshDosh hit me right between the eyes with his post about creating the right content. Figure out, if you haven’t already, what you want out of blogging then write content that helps you accomplish those goals.
Both of these last two points were succinctly summed up by Darren at Problogger in his post about Planning Your Next Week’s Posting Schedule. His first couple of paragraph’s felt like he had been peeking over my shoulder and then he went on to give a solution.
So there you go, that’s a fair amount to digest and implement, I haven’t fully implemented it all yet but I’m getting there. One thing I do know is that if I am going to be any kind of success I have to organize my blogging, I need that.

Wednesday links for 28/11/07 | CK Marketing…
This weeks link set is more of a complete article. Since I started blogging I have wandered aimlessly from post to post. Things did not feel right and this weekend I realized I have to organize my blogging life if I am going to accomplish anything at a…
Thanks very much for the link.
Thanks a ton for the link love; I really appreciate it. I hope planning brings you lots of success, I know it did for me.
As a new blogger this post has really been beneficial to me because now I know that I need to get organized now from the beginning. Those are some great links you have provided that I need to review, take notes, and personalize those strategies so I can implement them into my own schedule. I’ll be doing that immediately.
Up until I read this post I have just been making a short term todo list (e.g. post 2 comments on blog x, write blog post about x, etc.)
Thanks for the great tips, and for waking me up to the fact that I need to get organized… NOW.
@ Rod: No Problem, your post is so inspiring as a call to action.
@Super Blogging: Thx, your post is instrumental in me getting my blogging act together.
@xicom: That’s exactly what the posts did to me so I had to pass it on.
