March Traffic Report

by admin

traffic
Last month I threatened an end to these reports and this is the last one, despite a pageview of 222 for last month’s traffic report, up from 131. This report will be very much abridged in comparison to previous reports as I think a lot of the detail I included was unimportant, so here goes…

This month there were a total of 18,345 pageviews by 9,675 unique visitors, so that’s an average of almost 2 pages per visitor, the best yet. Traffic came from:

  • Direct Sources - 13.10%
  • Search Engine - 5.76%
  • Referring Sites - 81.14%

The top referring blogs were:

  • A Singaporean in London at 110
  • Personal Finance Management Guide at 67
  • ahkong.net at 56 (147)

Top posts for March were:

  • $100 For March at 2,039 pageviews.
  • Traffic Attitude Offer at 1,995 pageviews.
  • SplashPress Adopts The ScratchBack Widget at 1,251 pageviews.
  • How To Create A WordPress Theme - Part 8 at 1,131 pageviews.

Rankings continue to rise, I finally cracked the 50k barrier at Alexa with a rank of 46,173. RSS subscriptions increased from around 110 to 135, not quite 1 a day.

Recap

Overall, I’m happy with results, everything is growing. The start of the month was awkward for the blog as for the first couple of weeks I was buried in client work and had little time for the blog or posting. Consequently, visitors were down but when I resumed posting properly visitors came back up. I must say I was a little surprised at the traffic increase as StumbleUpon traffic was way down this month, other sources increased to make up and exceed the difference.

The "How to create a Wordpress theme" came to an end with Part 9. I am currently working on turning the series into an ebook (free) with much expanded contents. It should be out this month.

The other highlight of the month was the release of Wordpress 2.5. I am revamping this theme to incorporate the new features and will update when it’s finished, as well as posting tutorials on the new features.

I would like to thank you guys that made these results possible and for your continued reading of this blog.

  4. I used to do reports monthly on my Blog, but now I sort of keep them to myself with a quiet smile. I broke my unique visitors record last month so that was cool.

  5. @Franca: thx, I killed of the yuwie spammer, he/she/it left 3 identical posts!

@Steve: I’m thinking about making a page that has all the widgets to show the stats instead for those that are interested.

  7. I have seen your site grow day by day and have bookmarked all the wp theming articles. I must say it’s all because of the articles and the good thing about them is that they will continue bringing you traffic for a long time to come as they were excellent.

    congratulations.

  10. why are you stopping reporting your monthly traffic stats, it is an excellent example to show the growth of the blog and to see how its changed every month.i am surprised with the ratios of traffic though, only 5% from Google?! keep up the good work!

  11. @Dave: It wa, with the ratings change I’m now down to around 170,000…
@luq: I’ve been doing them for six months now, things have leveled off, so I don’t think they are so “exciting” to read. I am thinking of setting up a page that shows the current stats live.
