A call for your voice

by admin

Those of you that read the post on Wednesday about how I want to organize my blogging, will know that I am in that process now. Today while browsing I read another post about significance and what it means to us. This has caused me to rethink or modify my strategy.

This blog is my voice on the web, true at some point I may monetize it a little so that it is self-sufficient, but that is not really my aim here. It is to help others, my last eight years as an educator has impacted the way I think about others and that post hit me square between the eyes.

Before I fully commit a plan for this blog’s content I’m throwing it open to YOU. What would you like to learn here? What format would you like it to be in, text, video, mp3, pdf, a combination?

I am well experienced in PhotoShop, web design and programming (though I never did try perl), a fair amount of marketing experience ( I quit my fulltime job six weeks ago) plus I am a quick study, so if there’s something I don’t know, I can pick it up very fast not just to use it but to understand it as well.

My current thinking is four planned posts a week:

  • Monday - Internet Marketing topic
  • Wednesday - WordPress topic
  • Friday - News roundup
  • Sunday - Product or Service reviews

This would be the minimum postings, if anything came up that I felt was important to let you know I would post it that day regardless if it’s a post day or not. There will also be some guest blogging, one is already lined up and I invite anyone who is interested in a mutual guest blog to leave a comment.

At the end of the day this is your blog, without you it dies, you are significant to me so please let me know what you want and when you want it by leaving a comment to this post, thank you for your attention.

  3. Thanks for the great link about significance… I really enjoy reading your blog and I have to say congratulations on quitting your full-time job 6 weeks ago, what an accomplishment! That is my ultimate goal as a blogger.

I have just started but so far so good as it is my 2nd day of my blog being live and already (looking at the stats now) I have had 113 unique visits.

One day in the near future when my blog becomes more established and I have a little bit of a better feel for the “blogosphere” I will look forward to partnering up with you and hopefully doing some guestblogging.

As far as the content. Me personally, I never like taking the time to watch a whole lot of videos, or listen to audios so I would say in my opinion you should stick with informative blog posts and possibly PDF reports–as you can tell from my blog I am also into graphics (especially abstract graphics) so it would be a nice touch to add some kind of a gallery with your photoshop work posted there (I plan on doing the same on my blog), even though your blog isn’t about graphics I think it would give it a nice little touch–something for your visitors to look at if they chose to.

I have stumbled your blog because I enjoy reading it and I am going to add your feed to my Google reader. Take care and I’ll be seeing you around!

  4. @xicomf: thx for the feedback and stumble. I’m more of the reading type as well, quick scan then slow read if interested. Once this blog is established I may start another for all the arty-farty stuff. Though I will be incorporating gfx into the posts now that my host has enabled php uploading.

As I mentioned my a previous post it is time to really organize my blogging! But my blog is not really MY blog it is yours. As I showed in my stats post, it is my visitors that are make it a success beyond what I thought it would do.
